CULTURAL DISPLAY AT ITS BEST AS LOCAL GAMES TAKE CENTER STAGE AT 2024 LG SERVICE WEEK

The Local Government Service Commission (LGSC) has successfully hosted a colourful Cultural Day and Local Games Festival on Wednesday 2nd October, 2024 as part of activities of the ongoing 2024 Local Government Service Week. The Service Week is an annual programme holding from Wednesday 2nd to Thursday 3rd October, for the year 2024 edition. 

The theme for this year's celebration is "repositioning Local Government Service to a point of reference in the Public Service". 

The event showcased the rich cultural heritage of Ogun State and fostered a sense of camaraderie among Local Government staff.

Participants engaged in traditional games, dance performances, and cultural displays, highlighting the diversity and unity of Ogun State as expressed by the four zones  of the state - Remo, Ijebu, Yewa and Egba. 

The Chairman, Local Government Service Commission, Ms. Olivia Olubukunola Onabanjo, while declaring the programme held within the premises of the LGSC in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta open, expressed her delight at the enthusiastic participation of staff from all four zones of Ogun State.

 She equally appreciated the turn out of Staffers which she described as encouraging. 

Participants competed in Ludo game, Whot, Draughts, Ayo Olopon, Fashion Parade and Cultural display from the four zones of the State. 

Winners from the games are Mr. Femi Akinoso coming top in the male category of Ayo Olopon, while Mrs. Olatunbosun Olusola emerged champion of the female category. Others include, Mr. Femi Akigbogun, Whot, Comrade Idowu Jonathan, won the Draughts competition, Ludo game was won by Mr. Ganiyu Adenekan. Mr. Lekan Ewuoso, however emerged as the Mr. Local Government 2024 while Mrs. Toyin Balogun became Miss Local Government 2024.

The winners of each category of the competition were thereafter presented with prizes for their outstanding performances.

The festival was a resounding success, promoting teamwork, unity, and a sense of belonging among the Local Government Staffers.

 It also served as a platform to celebrate the contributions of Local Government Staff to the development of their Communities and the State in general. 

The celebration is, however, a testament to the Commission's commitment to promoting cultural diversity, community engagement, and unity among Local Government Staff in Ogun State.

Dignitaries at the event include, Full Time Commissioners in the LGSC, the Permanent Secretary, Directors in the LGSC, HOLGAs, Directors and HODs in various Local Governments amongst many others.
