2024 LG SERVICE WEEK: LGSC REWARDS OUTSTANDING STAFF AT AWARD / GALA NIGHT CEREMONY

.....Gov. Abiodun applauds Ogun LGSC on Local Government Service Week success.

All roads led to the DLK Events Center, Abiola Way, Abeokuta, the venue of the Award Of Excellence and Gala Night to draw the curtain on the 2024 LOCAL GOVERNMENT SERVICE WEEK where dignitaries across board gathered to be part of the glamorous event.

The Ogun State Local Government Service Commission (LGSC) under the able leadership of Ms Olivia Olubukunola Onabanjo used the avenue in  recognizing the exceptional contributions of staff from the twenty Local Government Areas in Ogun State, with presentation of

 awards to the best staff in each category, acknowledging their outstanding performance and dedication to service. In addition, Abeokuta North Local Government was honored with the prestigious Best Local Government Award, recognizing its exemplary achievements and commitment to excellence. 

The Award of Excellence and Gala Night held at the DLK Events Centre, Abiola Way, Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Thursday 3rd October, 2024 concluded the 2024 Local Government Service Week celebration which commenced on Wednesday 2nd October, 2024 with the theme "Repositioning the Local Government Service to a point of Reference in the Public Service" . 

The Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun CON, who was ably represented by His Deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako Oyedele congratulated the leadership and members of the State Local Government Service Commission for the success of the Award of Excellence and Gala Night which is the grand finale of the annual Ogun State Local Government Service Week. 

Speaking through the Deputy Governor, Prince Abiodun  seized the opportunity to congratulate all the awardees, he expressed his deepest gratitude to all local government officials and staff across the state for their tireless dedication to grassroots development. 

The State Governor also appreciated the leadership of the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, for his gracious endorsement of the Supreme Court's decision, which affirmed the constitutional autonomy of Local Governments. According to Him, the decision exemplified the President's commitment to upholding the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. 

Prince Abiodun, therefore, emphasized that the theme of the Service Week perfectly aligns with with His administration's vision of a more effective, accountable and responsive Local Government system. 

He also hinted that His administration has embarked on a deliberate journey to revitalize and reposition the Local Government Service for greater effectiveness, inclusivity, sustainability and resilience.

Earlier, in her address, the Chairman, Local Government Service Commission, Ms Olivia Olubukunola Onabanjo commended His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun CON, the Executive Governor of Ogun State for His unwavering support, describing his leadership as a beacon of guidance allowing her administration in the Commission to uphold integrity and excellence at the Local Government level. 

The LGSC Chairman listed her achievements in office to include clearing of backlog of Promotion, comprehensive training programmes amongst many others. 

The Awardees who were presented with Award Plaques and special gifts from the Commission were, Alhaji Junaid Wasiu Babatunde, Best Administrator of the year, Sanitarian Tolulope Daini, Best Environmental Officer, Mrs. Ibitayo Veronica Adunni, Best Non-unified staff of the year, Mr. Kayode Kikisagbe, Most Outstanding Agricultural Officer of the year, Alhaja Taiwo Abosede Basirat, the best Revenue Driven Manager of the year, Others include, Engr. Akinleye Abiodun, Best Infrastructural Developer of the year, Mrs. Ayanwale Titilayo, Best Image Maker of the year, Mrs. Tunrayo Akinsanya , the most Efficient & Effective Marriage Registrar, Comrade Idowu Jonathan, Best Grassroot mobilizer of the year, while Abeokuta North Local Government got the award of Best LG of the year. 

Dignitaries at the event include, the wife of the State Governor, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Daisi Elemide, Member of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon . Joseph Adegbesan , Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Olufemi Onasanya, Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Sesan Fagbayi, Full Time Commissioners in the LGSC, retired and serving Permanent Secretaries , Top  Government functionaries,  and Directors in the LGSC. Others are Royal fathers, Captains of Industries.

The Awards of Excellence and Gala Night ceremony was a fitting culmination of the two-day event, celebrating the achievements of Local Government Staff and reaffirming their commitment to serving the people of Ogun State.
