Ifo Constituency 1 Begs Gov. Abiodun To Intervene In Councillorship Selection Crisis

A group of concerned members from Ifo Local Government Constituency (1) have petitioned Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, alleging that the Commissioner of Women and Affairs, Hon. Adijat Adeleye, manipulated and imposed candidates in the ongoing selection process for councillorship candidates.

In a copy of petition obtained by our correspondent, they claim that the original list of selected candidates was altered, leading to the exclusion of duly selected candidates and the inclusion of unqualified individuals.

The petition explained that the selection process for the councillors was properly conducted by the Apex Leaders in Constituency 1, resulting in a list of selected candidates from each ward. However, discover that only the candidate from Ifo Ward 11 appeared on the list submitted to OGSIEC.

The group said it was regrettably that during their findings revealed that Hon. Adeleye, unilaterally altered the names of candidates from the remaining four wards to favor Hon. Olakunle Oluomo, former Speaker of OGHA, claiming that it was with the Governor's approval.

According to the petition which reads in parts "Reference to the ongoing selection process for the councillorship candidacy mandates in preparation for the coming Local Government election, we are really concerned and unhappy with the present situation."

"The selection process for the councillors was perfectly done by the Apex Leaders in constituency 1 which brought about their list of selected candidates from each ward. The candidate list was as follows:

Ifo ward 1: Oshungboye Oluwole Emmanuel
Ifo ward 2: Shokunbi Yusuff Oladipupo
Ifo Ward 3: Eyiowuawi Akeem
Ifo ward 10: Oyeniyi Shakirat Olaitan
Ifo ward 11: Bello Kehinde Abdulazeez.

"From the above names, it was for us to realized that only Ifo ward 11 appeared on the list submitted to OGSIEC."

"Our findings pointed out that Hon. Adijat Adeleye (Commissioner for women affairs) has changed the names of candidates from the remaining four wards to favour Hon. Olakunle Oluomo (Former Speaker OGHA), she claimed it was with Governor's approval."

To our surprise, what effrontery did she has to tamper with constituency 1 list, only to discovered she did it to satisfy Hon. Oluomo against the Governor's instruction. Out of those names she choose from Ifo ward 2, Ibrahim Fadahuntan (He doesn't have primary school certificate).

"Your Excellency Sir, kindly please intervene to this matter, so we could retain our mandate. Save our soul, save our mandate, we are tired of one man ruling system in Ifo Local Government. No major development for the past 13 years, no progress, we need a change as we value our great party."

"Sir, kindly use your good office to warn Hon. Adijat to stick to her constituency (Ifo II) and not poke nosing to Ifo constituency 1."

"Hoping for a favourable response and adjustment from your good office sir., the petition concluded"
