Landowners At Agboro Express Anger, Extend Protest To Ogun State House of Assembly, Ake Palace Over 500 Hectares Of Lands Sold By Olu Obafemi

The affected landowners at Agboro and its environs, in Obafemi-Owode Local Government have insisted not to trade away their inherited lands taken over and maverick sold by Olu Obafemi, Oba Taofeek Owolabi Kayode picketed Ogun State House of Assembly and Ake Palace in a plea to meddle into the matter.

Addressing the grief on behalf of the lineages whose farms were sold by the Oba, Chief (Hon.) Olaseni Adeoye enunciated that, it began in December 24, 2024 when Olu Obafemi, Oba Taofeek Owolabi nefariously scared them away from their fore fathers' lands. Explained further that the 500 hectares of  lands took over and later sold by Olu Obafemi were not only causing chaos in the communities but selfishly subject dwellers in the environs to struggle for drinkable water for He has polluted their stream due to his self-centered actions. 

Added that this may invite cholera outbreak in the communities, alleged that the monarch had recently blocked the source of water in the community now leaving them with an unhealthy lake to source water from. Pleaded the Government to call him to order and also tell him to leave their ancestral lands while vehemently affirmed that the Kabiesi does not belong to the communities neither his father was from the land.

Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Honourable Elemide Oludaisi responded, promised to treat the petitions of the disgruntled communities who came from Obafemi area,  in Obafemi Owode Local Government over alleged land grabbing issue.

Furtherance to that, Hon. Elemide gave protesters his words on the abolition of land grabbing issues at the State that  the State Government has warned Obas in the State to distant themselves from any form of land matters, that the Legislators in the State would look into the matter.

He therefore assured the communities that their petitions would be treated to resolve the lands' disputes. 

"We have passed a law on anti grabbing bad anti-cultism. You have brought your petition and we will treat it accordingly. Recently, the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun reeled out warnings to the monarchs at the Obas Council that his government will not tolerate land grabbing.

"This government has zero tolerance for land grabbing. So, we are going to invite all stakeholders concerned on the matter and we will come back with our reports." Elemide assured.
