OGUN STATE LOCAL GOVERNMENT SERVICE COMMISSION HARPS ON VITAL ROLES OF ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH OFFICERS AND TECHNICIANS AT ENSURING AN HEALTHY ENVIRONMENTS AT THE GRASSROOTS LEVEL

The  Chairman, Ogun State Local Government Service Commission, Ms Olivia Olubukunola Onabanjo has vowed to continue to give the training of its workers an upmost priority in order for them to be in line with the best global practices.
Onabanjo said this in ijebu-Ode on Thursday while declaring open a day short course and update meeting  for the Environmental Health Officers and Technicians in Ijebu zone 
Ms. Onabanjo who expresses her concern on how people engage in open defection , throw wastes drainages , dump refuse indiscriminately, contaminate air , water and ecosystems amongst other unhealthy conducts and yet they go scot-free as Government will not condole this attitude again 

Ms, Onabanjo opined that many homes are without toilet’s facilities and their immediate environment ooze had odor which is injurious to healthy living stating that in order to bring back the good works of Wole Wole’s of old, their is need to rejuvenate their virtues by being alive to your responsibilities,be dedicated and render selfless Service to the State and the Nation at large 
“Environmental Health Officers relevance is withering  away , you lack the capacity or wherewithal to enforce compliance, while unhealthy practices in markets , homes ,Schools, restaurants, abattoirs remains unabated 

Dangerous Substances and chemicals are being used on edible foods, while increased noise pollution and environmental hazards are the order of the day 
She said ,Ogun State Local Government Service Commission will continue to give the training and retraining of workers as priority in order for them to stand out amongst their peers at both local and State government level across the country.

He revealed that “the short course is of utmost importance because of the priority  Prince Dapo Abiodun led government places on the wellbeing of the people at the grassroot, most especially in the health care sector.

 
In her remark, the Permanent Secretary,Ogun State Local Government Service Commission, Engr. Ogunbona Olanike Olawunmi. FNSE, stressed the importance of the training as it will help Environmental Health and Technicians workers to improve on their professions 

While appreciating the Commission On behalf of the Participants, Sanitarian Balikis Badejo promised to improve in the discharge of their duties.

She then appealed to the Commission to help equip all the local government  Water Supply and Environmental Sanitation departments with modern facilities to work with and recruitment of more personnel in various  offices across the twenty (20) Local Governments in Ogun State.

The programme which was held at De-Millennium Hall, Ijebu-Ode Local Government Secretariat had in attendance, the Chairman, Ms. Olivia Ollubukunola Onabanjo, Full time Commissioners, the Permanent Secretary, Engr. Olanike Olawunmi Ogunbona  FNSE, Directors and the Information Unit of the Local Government Service Commission and many others.
