OGUN STATE LGSC TRAINS NEWLY CONVERTED UNIFIED OFFICERS via A DAY INDUCTION/ORIENTATION WORKSHOP

The Ogun State Local Government Service Commission has charged officers who were recently converted into the prestigious unified staff cadres of the Service to think out of the box in ensuring that they bring quality services to their new positions.

The Chairman of the Commission, Ms.Olivia Olubukunola Onabanjo gave the charge while addressing the newly inducted officers, on the roles expected of them in their new positions.

Ms. Onabanjo said that ,the induction programme is put together to acquaint the officers with the basic knowledge, work ethics and moral conducts required of them to perform optimally in their new cadres.

"There is going to be a change in your status, functions, expected roles and responsibilities arising from your movement from the junior cadre to superior officers' cadres. You will be entrusted with higher responsibilities and you are expected to be diligent, ingenious and resourceful in the discharge of your new roles".

She charged them to exhibit high sense of professionalism and the need to think out of the box to satisfactorily render qualitative and enduring services to the populace in line with international best practices. 

"The Local Government Service Commission as part of its statutory mandate has been attracting the right kind of employees to deliver world class services that is in line with acceptable international best practices. The Commission has successfully conducted recruitment, promotion and conversion exercises for elegible  members of staff across the cadres . Ample opportunities are given to members of staff to acquire academic and professional qualifications, relevant to the needs of the Service.

"Upon acquisition of such certificates, you are given the opportunity to use the certificates for career progression in the Service. This has boosted staff morale and strengthened confidence to effectively and efficiently discharge assigned duties with renewed vigor and enthusiasm".

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary Local Government Service Commission,  Engr. Ogunbona Olanike Olawunmi. FNSE,stressed the importance of the training, as it will help the newly converted officers to improve on their professions.

Ogunbona said, "many of you have gone through rigorous activities before arriving at this present position. Your mode of dressing and status rmust changed now."

 

She then disclosed that 130 junior officers were converted to  either Sub-Officers or Officers cadres by the Local Government Service Commission. She concluded by charging them that, by now, they must have known how to recite the Nigerian new National Anthem that they can be called upon at anytime in their respective local governments to recite the National Anthem.

She then  advice the new officers to be diligent and have the ability to tolerate others.

While appreciating the Commission for the induction,  Mrs Adenuga Atinuke, on behalf of participants, promised  to discharge their duties deligently, ccurately and always seek advice from supervisor officers.

The programme which  was held at the "Crescent Muslim Professionals' Hall", Leme, Abeokuta, had in attendance, the Chairman, Local Government Service Commission, Ms. Olivia Olubukunola Onabanjo, Full time Commissioners, the Permanent Secretary, Engr. Ogunbona Olanike Olawunmi. FNSE,Directors, Assistant Directors and the Information Unit of the Local Government Service Commission.
